8 of Swords

From the worry of the nine, we move to the oppression of the eight.

Here we see a person tied up and surrounded by swords with a castle, a symbol of authority behind her. She stands in mad, humiliated and shamed.

But look closely, the swords do not fence her in and her legs are not bound. There are no guards. She could walk away if she wanted to.

In readings this card stands for those times when help seems very far away and we feel lost and confused. You feel a lack of freedom and choice. But what this card says is that you do have choices, you are just refusing to see them. It is you who are imprisoning yourself.

Reversed, freedom - we throw off our blindfolds. We are freed from the oppressive situation.
